How To Install WPC Decking?
WPC decking is popular for its natural wood-like appearance and advantages like weather resistance and durability. Our many building material distributors feature WPC decking as a top-selling product. While WPC decking is renowned for its ease of installation, improper attention to installation details by customers can lead to issues. If you're unsure how to explain the installation process to your customers, please refer to this detailed article.
Preparation before installing WPC decking
Avoid Unpacking Too Early: Do not unpack the composite decking until you're ready for installation. Once unpacked, lay the decking flat in a cool, dry place to prevent warping before installation.
Ensure a Level Subfloor: An uneven subfloor can create pressure points that may lead to warping. Before laying the WPC decking, make sure the subfloor is clean, dry, and level. Use a leveling compound to eliminate any imperfections if necessary.
Maintain Proper Expansion Gaps (Key Point): During installation, it’s essential to leave adequate expansion gaps between decking boards. These gaps allow the boards to expand and contract without warping. The gap size depends on the material and manufacturer specifications.
(Our PVC-based decking has a relatively low thermal expansion coefficient, resulting in minimal expansion with temperature changes. In contrast, other PE-based decking may expand more with significant temperature increases, requiring larger gaps to prevent warping.)
Accessories Needed to Install WPC Decking
If the Joists are wooden, fix it with expansion screws
If you choose the Joists are metal, you can use ordinary M3*16 screws
